Hello again folks,
All "the girls" have written a post. To view them, see the list at the right and click on them. Tomorrow we will all write on the same post so it is easier to follow what is happening. Pictures are coming.
It is 9 o'clock Tuesday morning and we have been up for several hours. The sun was shining brightly, but now a few clouds have moved in. We have our fingers crossed that it will be beautiful for the wedding at 4:30!
Yesterday was amazing. Betty and I finally caught up on our sleep so we were raring to go all day. We sat overlooking the ocean for breakfast and sampled as much as we could from the buffet. I particularly enjoyed the strawberry milkshake! MMMMMMMMMMMMM! Then we headed right down to the fabulous sandy beach and set up our "camp" for the day. (Of course, it was right by the bar!) We just lay there and vegged, took a dip, grabbed a drink, slept...repeat.
Unfortunately, I slathered so much sunblock on that I got some in my eyes and spent several hours being semi blind. I flushed and flushed with Visine and by nightfall I could see. Lunch was rather simple as we apparently went to the "wrong" buffet - today we will go to the decadent one further along. (food details later, Shirlene). By the time we finished lunch, it was 3 o'clock so we moved to the pool. All the other wedding guests drifted by at some point and "the children" had their cluster of cots close by. They were much more subdued than yesterday, maybe because they had spend the morning frolicking on a catamaran.
The others went off to the wedding rehearsal while I watched our "stuff". Feeling very sandy and sticky, I decided to go up and take a shower. After hiding our bags, I went to our room, but couldn't turn on any of the lights. I tried phoning the main desk, but of course a) it was dark b) I was blind c) there was no card saying how to phone the desk. Huffing and puffing, I marched down to the main desk and told them the problem. The very laid back fellow said, "No lights? Okay........" He wrote down the room number and just smiled when I said to hurry because I had a dinner reservation at 6:30. (I don't think he recognized the word "hurry"!) When i went back up, Betty was there WITH THE LIGHTS ON! Who knew there was a power switch by the main door? The fellow from the desk arrived an hour later.
Betty tried to "do" my hair" - she wanted to play cosmo. Finally I grabbed the brush and blow dryer and took over as I had concerns about what was happening to my hair. Pat and Donna stopped by and we headed to the rehearsal dinner. Alicia had made a lovely scrapbook for Scott and Angela so we all secretly signed it and they presented it to them at dinner. The children all looked lovely and Betty had brought crowns for the bride and groom. (Who but Betty would have thought of that???) We had an amazing dinner - every vegetable known to man cooked in a variet of ways and I added tilapia - fabulous. For the carnivores, every animal and creepy, crawly sea creature possible were served. And the desserts...fried banana fritters with chocolate sauce etc. etc. Scott and Angela tried to make a speech but both of their voices had gone - probably from the whooping the day before!
After dinner, the children went off the party and the four of us went to the entertainment. It had rained during dinner so the air was still very humid. We sat at a table near the front and watched 12 guests embarrass themselves trying to dance to win a measly t shirt! At that point, Pat said she needed some fresh air. I found that amusing as we were outside under a roof, but the fellow behind her was smoking a cigar. (There are A LOT of smokers here!) We headed up to our room where I downloaded all our pictures (many) and we then drank Mavis's champagne (Thanks Mav!) and had a slide show of all the pictures. We had SUCH a lovely time revisiting all our adventures. How wonderful to be sharing this lovely week with good friends and Pat's family. (Wish you ALL were here!)
Betty went right to sleep. I poured my sherry and read for a bit by the light of my Itty Bitty book light then also went to sleep. We are in a HUGE bed - two large singles pushed together. Both of us slept right through until 7 o'clock and feel fully refreshed now. I came right down and got the others "blogging". We have taken turns at breakfast so we didn't lose our spot here in the foyer where there is a plug. I was rather disappointed that there was no cereal, but that seems to be a minor complaint considering there were aisles and aisles of food! It is a bit cloudy now so I am not rushing down to the beach. I am going to add some pictures for your enjoyement. Stay tuned for tomorrow's blogs. We should have details and pictures from this afternoon's wedding!
Thank you so much for your lengthy comment, Shirlene - I read it to the group.
